In Coronation Street, things have been going well for Chesney Brown and Gemma Winter recently since they befriended new couple Mick Michaelis and his wife Lou. From having a drink together at The Rovers to exchanging favors such as TVs and car accessories, the couples appeared to be hitting it off like a house on fire. But as it turns out, those were probably show-offs.
Coronation Street: Ronnie Sounds the Alarm – “Watch Your Backs”
Chesney and Gemma become closer friends with Mick and Lou when the latter give them their second-hand TV and even let them borrow their car roof box for the Browns’ family outing. On the face of it, it’s a thoughtful move. But not everyone in the street has their rose-tinted perception of Mick.
Ronnie Bailey is not impressed particularly. Having already collided with Mick, Ronnie advises Chesney and Gemma to watch their step. He thinks that Mick is not as good as he seems-and his suspicions get louder following another confrontation. Enraged, Ronnie takes a personal approach and unleashes his rage by cutting one of Mick’s van tyres.
Chesney’s Suspicions Increase – Is It Too Late To Pull Out?
Later, Chesney gets a friendly text from Mick asking him out for a pint. But it doesn’t feel right. Ronnie’s words are still fresh in his mind, and the message makes him feel anxious instead of thrilled. In spite of his unease, he decides to go.
Another cringe-worthy moment takes place when Mick and Lou turn up unexpectedly at Chesney and Gemma’s for an evening in. With beers in hand and snacks, they sit themselves down without asking, disrupting what was supposed to be a relaxed night in. The couple is obviously uneasy—but distancing themselves from this friendship could be easier said than done.
ITV soap’s Joe Layton, who takes the role of Mick, is set to exit the show this summer. His last scenes are set to be shot next month. But how will he exit? Only the upcoming Coronation Street spoilers can reveal. Until then stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more soap updates.
