Gary Windass is always the kind of man who acts on impulse when his gut instincts take control, and future Coronation Street episodes will see him again at a turning point. Years of running the antiques shop leave Gary restless, feeling it is time for something to shake things up big time. What starts out as a quest for fresh purpose quickly becomes something much more substantial—and much riskier—than he could have dreamed.
Gary Seeks Out a New Dream in Coronation Street
As trade at the antiques shop keeps dwindling, Gary confides in Maria Connor that he is considering selling out. He informs her that he fantasizes about acquiring the builder’s yard, which remains on the market, hoping it can be the new beginning he desires. But Maria warns him they simply can‘t afford that kind of financial gamble.
Later, Gary confides his dreams to handyman Mick Michaelis during a relaxed conversation. He tells him that Maria does not favor the idea, but Mick advises him to do it anyway, saying that whatever is good for Gary will ultimately be good for Maria as well. Believing Mick‘s words, Gary quickly decides and enrolls in his new business.
Maria soon comes across Gary and Mick celebrating in the Rovers Return with drinks. Gary tells Maria excitedly that he is sure he made the correct decision and will make the new business succeed. Maria, however, remains suspicious, especially when Gary shares that he has offered Mick a job at the yard.
She doesn’t mince words, informing Mick uncertainly that he isn’t invited. Her response isn’t out of left field—after all, Mick has already shown his stripes as bad news, having intimidated Chesney Brown and beaten up Sean Tully previously.
Trouble Brews as Mick’s Influence Grows
Gary‘s spontaneous choice immediately initiates a chain of events he didn‘t anticipate. Trouble starts brewing when Liam Connor gets into trouble at the precinct, having his phone stolen by a gang of lads and being threatened.
As the situation arises, Mick turns up on the scene. However, with tensions between him and Maria still running high, there‘s doubt whether he will come and save Liam. Or will he allow him to fight his battles to exact revenge?
Gary‘s dive into a new business venture is beginning to look like a catastrophe waiting to happen. As things spin out of control, it becomes apparent that trusting Mick might be one of the largest errors Gary has ever committed.
