Daisy Midgeley has officially left Coronation Street, but not before pulling the carpet from under everyone‘s feet. Fans had anticipated the drama, but nobody saw this coming. Her last scenes were filled with lies, heartbreak, a twist nobody expected… and a very pricey surprise.
A Scam… and a Change of Heart?
Let’s rewind a bit. Daisy had been looking to leave Weatherfield following everything that’s recently occurred. However, before she could leave, she became caught up in an elaborate scheme with her mum, Christina.
Between them, they created a fraudulent dating profile for a man by the name of Dom. Their motive – to dupe Jenny into falling for Dom and investing in his company.
But only days before, Daisy began to rue it. She witnessed Jenny weeping and lost. Then she saw Christina with Dom and realized that her very own mum was attempting to double-cross her. That hurt.
So Daisy gave Jenny a small hint—just enough to help her to realize she was being catfished by Christina. Jenny was shocked, but thankful. She even attempted to persuade Daisy not to go. But Daisy had set her mind.
Coronation Street: Daisy Packs Her Bags… But Not Just Clothes
In Friday’s episode, Daisy informed Jenny that she was off to Brighton. She packed her belongings and took some time to bid farewell. She had warm, emotional moments with Daniel, Ryan, and little Bertie. It was all so warm and emotional.
Though Daniel chased after her just before she departed to give their relationship another chance, Daisy couldn’t help.
She obviously did care, but informed him she had to go by herself. That appeared to be the end of it. But at the pub, the drama just got started.
Christina went back home after a night spent in the police cell and rushed to look for Jenny. She instructed her to check her bank account, and that’s where the truth burst. Jenny found out that £60,000 had been stolen. It wasn’t long to realize who stole it.
Goodbye Weatherfield, Hello Bali!
While Jenny was still processing the shock, Daisy was already in the back of a taxi, slipping on her sunglasses and smiling. Brighton? Not even close. She was heading to Bali.
That’s right, Daisy faked her destination and flew off into the sunset with £60k in her pocket. And just like that, the master manipulator had done it again.
But first, she sent a few farewell letters. Julie received a bundle of cash. Ryan was instructed to treat himself to some new DJ decks. Kit received an expensive bottle of whisky. Daniel received Disneyland tickets.
And Jenny? Just a sorry and a huge hole in her bank account and a whole lot of betrayal.
