Lauren Bolton has been attempting to make a change in Coronation Street, but next week, she’s cornered, and it could cost her the sole two friends she still has. With financial strain growing and secrets poised on the brink of being exposed, Lauren’s most recent decisions can lead to a backlash she cannot reverse.
A Blackmail and a Lie That Won’t Stay Buried
Lauren’s recent return to the cobbles has been far from smooth. Having joined Betsy Swain in an ill-fated revenge scheme, the two nicked Tracy McDonald’s florist van, only for Lauren to have crashed it. Although Betsy jumped in and took the rap, the repercussions didn’t end there.
Shortly thereafter, Lauren started getting mysterious messages from an unnamed blackmailer. The messages weren’t only threatening but were supported by evidence in the form of photos of Lauren driving.
Desperate, she sought help from Bobby, but even that safety net couldn’t erase the threat. Though she attempted to disregard the messages initially, the blackmailer escalated the game, and asked for £200 or threatened to release the incriminating photo to the police.
Struggling already to make ends meet and in fear for her life, Lauren took £500 from Bobby, insisting it would solve the issue once and for all.
A Costly Confession and a Friendship Falls Apart
Rather than spending the money on her blackmailer, Lauren secretly used it to pay for a flat deposit. Happy to be creating a secure future, she kept the secret hidden, until shame made her confess.
When Bobby finds out what she did, he is angry. He feels that Lauren has broken his trust and ends their friendship. She is devastated by the news.
Things only get worse later in the week when Betsy meets up with her at the café. Still angry about the way Lauren treated Bobby, Betsy goes for her.
The row soon gets out of hand. In the mayhem, Lauren unfortunately sprays ketchup all over Roy Cropper, who finds himself in the midst of the commotion.
Coronation Street: Can Lauren Fix What’s Broken?
After months of setbacks, mistakes, and hard-earned trust, Lauren’s suddenly back where she started. According to a Coronation Street insider, Lauren is “devastated” by the breakdown in her friendships and is desperate to fix things with Bobby and Betsy.
The source adds that while Roy is sure to keep his usual calm presence, despite being doused in ketchup, Lauren needs more than wise words this time. With her personal life in tatters and a blackmailer still looming in the background, the odds aren’t in her favour. Will Lauren be able to restore what she’s lost? Or has this error cost her the support she most needs?
