EastEnders’ James Bye’s New Role
EastEnders actor James Bye recently announced his new gig. He will be playing Mr Darcy in Death Comes to Pemberley, which is a criminal thriller. This play is all set to be shown at the Mill at Sonning theatre in Berkshire until June 28th, 2025.
The play is based on the novel by P.D. James. It is a sequence of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. James said playing the iconic character Martin for so long and then jumping onto another iconic character has given him so much joy.
He further added that “It’s been a lot of work, but the play is amazing, and I feel very honoured to be involved.” James was first seen as Martin on the soap back in 2014. He has been the centre of many interesting and intense plots.
Actor James said that he cannot believe that the makers trusted him so much that his character left during a live episode. “It’s not much different from being on stage – except the audience was in the millions rather than the hundreds,” he added.
James added that it has been truly a privilege for him to play Martin all these years and thanked the crew for trusting him with the character. In his upcoming play his character and his wife Lizzy will be playing the role of a detective couple who will try to solve a murder mystery just a night before a grand ball.
