EastEnders’ Kate Oates Teases At A Mystery Comeback
EastEnders received the award for Best Soap & Continuing Drama at the BAFTA TV Awards. Soon after the huge win, Kate Oates has hinted that the soap is planning for another comeback. While she spoke about the possibility, she kept the name of the character under the cover. Kate said, “If you like a return, I don’t think you’re going to be disappointed because there’s potentially one on the cards.” “Some really, really big stuff” is going to come our way.
She further explained that they have some uncharted territory. Kate further added that the team is ‘following on the heels’ of EP Chris Clenshaw. “He is quite an accolade because he has broken quite a lot of fresh ground,” she added. Speaking of Chris, he returned to the soap back in 2022 and announced his exit in 2024.
He was replaced by Channel 4’s commissioning executive Ben Wadey. Kate said that for Ben, what really is challenging is to continue the success Chris has left. “We’re really excited for what’s to come,” she added.
Kate further explained that some really big stories are lined up. She also added that if the viewers are expecting a return, they will not let their expectations down. “You might be interested in what’s on the horizon,” she said.
