Meanwhile, Ted‘s already out and about. He takes Eva out to the country club for breakfast — the same club that everything blew up at. That‘s no accident. He wants the town to see them walking in together. And not just anyone, even the ever-vigilant town gossip, Anastasia, sees them sitting across the dining room, smirking with amusement. She lets Leslie know that while she grew up Eva in hatred, she grew up her own child in love — and there‘s no comparison to be made.

When Eva arrives, feelings rage. She and Leslie have a shouting argument, and Martin, who’s sitting nearby, offers comfort to his half-sister. He tells her she deserves so much better than what she‘s been through and says he’s sorry for the things she‘s suffered. And then Vernon appears, calmly but firmly informing Leslie that he will never forget what she has done.
