Relations between the Battersby sisters have been icy for some time, and next week, things are going to turn even colder. In Coronation Street, Toyah intervenes behind Leanne’s back to deliver a discreet warning. But if her sister catches wind of what’s going on, there may be yet another explosive confrontation on the horizon.
A History of Complications
Leanne and Toyah’s relationship has never been easy, but things came to a head last year. Leanne was bewitched by The Institute and its controller Rowan Cunliffe, to the shock of those around her. In spite of dire warnings, she pushed everyone away—including Nick and Toyah.
During the commotion, Toyah and Nick had taken comfort in each other, and their affair had culminated in disaster when the truth was revealed. Toyah and Leanne have hardly spoken to each other since then, with tensions bubbling just below the surface.
Coronation Street: Toyah Takes Matters into Her Own Hands
In Monday 9 June scenes, Leanne meets up with newly separated Ronnie Bailey for lunch. They get on well and agree they’re just friends. But Toyah sees them and immediately leaps to the wrong conclusion. As Leanne pops to the loo, Toyah gets her opportunity and drags Ronnie aside.
She warns him gently that Leanne has had a terrible time lately and tells him she doesn’t want her sister to get hurt again. Ronnie assures her they’re friends and nothing more, but it’s obvious that Toyah still feels protective, even if she’s not in Leanne’s life anymore.
So, how will Leanne behave if she discovers Toyah’s been gossiping behind her back? It’s fair to say Leanne won’t be amused by Toyah muscling in. Their relationship has only just recovered from last year’s drama, and this could drive an even bigger wedge between them.
