Why Dev Disappeared from Coronation Street?
Earlier this month, Dev Alahan abruptly departed Weatherfield when he discovered his Auntie Gita had had a dreadful fall. True to his family man nature, he took off for India to take care of her, leaving viewers speculating as to when he’d be returning.
Before departing, Dev had hoped his then-partner Bernie Winter would accompany him. But Bernie didn’t feel she could walk away, not after Paul’s loss and everything Gemma was enduring.
Remaining in Weatherfield seemed the right thing to do at the moment. Meanwhile, while Dev was off doing goodness-knows-what, Bernie’s life took some crazy turns.
She found that Brody Michaelis is really her long-lost grandson, thanks to the twist that he’s Kit Green’s son. And just when she was thinking it couldn’t get any more dramatic, she wound up getting kidnapped by Brody’s dad, Mick Michaelis, as part of a sick revenge scheme against Kit.
Dev Is Back — And Asha Couldn’t Be Happier
Actress Tanisha Gorey, who appears as Dev’s daughter Asha, revealed that Jimmi Harkishin is back shooting. Tanisha added that it feels wonderful to have him back around, saying he’s “really like a father” to her and explaining it’s lovely to see his familiar face on set again.
As Dev is about to re-enter Weatherfield, it’s evident that he’s coming back into a totally different scenario. Bernie’s life hasn’t merely been hectic, it’s been entirely turned upside down. The question on everyone’s lips now is how Dev will fit back into this new reality.
