Melissa Suffers A Breakdown Due To SIBO!
Melissa Suffield, who played Lucy Beale in the soap, is suffering from small intestinal bacterial overgrowth. She learned about it after experiencing horrible nausea in 2023. Due to the disease, she has lost weight. The former EastEnders actor shared a picture of herself from inside a fitting room. She was wearing a bright green plunging dress. She shared that she had a breakdown as it wasn’t a good day.
Melissa added that she could see her ribs in the middle of her chest. She wrote this while referring to her chest area, which was visible due to her plunging neckline. After seeing her visible ribs, she started crying. She said that it was even visible on her face that she was just a second from a mental breakdown, but it eventually happened. She added that SIBO hasn’t just taken away her weight but also herself. The ex-soap star, who, though everyone glorifies weight loss, when she looks in the mirror she hates it. She added that losing weight like this isn’t a nice feeling, as it is not an accomplishment.
Melissa Wants To Spread Awareness!
Melissa shared that no one will understand her even if they are going through it. She said that sometimes her legs feel so heavy that she can’t even climb the stairs. Sometimes the nausea doesn’t let her sleep. The former actor said that she performs all her roles of a mother, partner, cleaner, cook, but in the changing room, it was just her. She cried and had a big meltdown, but experienced two good things after that.
The first one was that she got angry. It reminded her to talk about SIBO and spread awareness about the disease among people. This would force healthcare professionals to provide better treatment for SIBO. The second thing was that she bought that dress because she loved it and wouldn’t let the disease take anything else from her. She added that she had lost a lot of weight, but she doesn’t enjoy it as it wasn’t her goal and was the opposite of what she wanted. Furthermore, her skin and hair have also been affected.
