EastEnders Icon Anita Dobson Bids Farewell to Angie
Back in Walford, Anita Dobson, beloved as Angie Watts, shocked fans with a surprise return during EastEnders’ 40th anniversary special. She appeared in Sharon’s dream after the Queen Vic explosion.
Years earlier, the talented actress was last seen in 1988 before writers later revealed she had died off-screen. Discussing her single-episode return, Anita admitted it took some real convincing before she agreed to return, even for one episode.
Coming back only made sense to her if it truly added something to the story. “We had to talk it through a lot,” she said. Once she read the script with the team, she felt the timing was right.
As for the future, Anita explained she won’t be returning. “It was a good way to say goodbye to Angie for me,” she said.
