If you’ve watched Home and Away anytime between 2007 and 2010, you probably remember Geoff Campbell. Played by Lincoln Lewis, he was the sweet, good-hearted guy who won over plenty of fans, and not just for his looks. But while many remember the love stories and drama his character went through, Lincoln recently shared a quiet little moment from behind the scenes that meant the world to him.
From Summer Bay to TV Globetrotting
Lincoln’s come a long way since his Home and Away days. He’s taken on roles in Tomorrow When the War Began, Underbelly, and plenty more. And while his dad is NRL legend Wally Lewis, Lincoln’s carved his own path in the entertainment world, he’s done Dancing With the Stars twice and is now busy presenting on Getaway, living the travel dream.
But even as he hops from airport to airport, he still looks back on his soap days with fondness. And it’s not just the fame or the gigs that followed. There’s a certain moment from Home and Away that really stuck with him, one that involved a true legend of the show.
Home and Away: A Lesson from Alf Stewart Himself
Lincoln was only 16 when he went for his callback audition on Home and Away. He was nervous, this was his first big shot. That’s when Ray Meagher, who we all know as Alf Stewart, stepped in and did something Lincoln’s never forgotten.
Seeing how anxious Lincoln was, Ray turned to the casting director and casually said, “Take five, love.” Then, right there in the room, Ray gave him a quick five-minute acting class. He could’ve just left it, but instead, he took the time to guide Lincoln through the nerves and help him settle into the role.
Still the Same Lincoln Just with More Memories
These days, Lincoln’s busy living the presenter’s life, traveling, packing light, and soaking up new experiences. He swears by his Lululemon gym gear, AirPods over bulky headphones, and always keeps a few essentials on hand, like Burt’s Bees lip balm and a good book.
Speaking of books, his mum recently got him to read The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins, she told him it was “phenomenal.” He also keeps The Alchemist and Manuscript Found in Accra with him, books he says help keep things in perspective.
And yep, the fan encounters keep coming. He’s signed everything from the inside of cars to replica weapons from movies he wasn’t even in. Some of it’s bizarre, sure, but he takes it all in stride, with a bit of humour and a lot of humility.
