Claire Sweeney’s been through plenty as Cassie Plummer on Coronation Street, but it looks like her real life has thrown her another tough moment, and fans are definitely worried. She’s had a rough start to the week, and it’s only getting worse.

She’s No Stranger to Pain

You probably remember earlier this year when Claire joined Dancing on Ice. It wasn’t exactly smooth sailing. She ended up getting hurt a few times; she dislocated her shoulder, sprained her ribs, and kept going. Most people would’ve quit, but not Claire.

She pushed through and even performed a burlesque routine to “Hey Big Spender.” They had to tweak the routine a bit to make it work with her injuries, but she still gave it her all. Sadly, it wasn’t enough to keep her in the competition and she got one of the lowest scores that night and was sent home.

Coronation Street: Claire’s Latest Setback

Now she’s dealing with something else. Claire posted a photo on Instagram showing her ankle; it’s badly bruised and swollen, wrapped up in a bandage. She captioned it saying, “Does anyone else have one of those weeks when everything goes wrong. Mine’s started like this.”

That was enough to get fans sending her loads of love. Some were shocked by how nasty the injury looked, while others just wanted to let her know they’re thinking of her. She didn’t go into details, but that photo said it all, she’s definitely hurt. Even without knowing the full story, her followers could tell it wasn’t a small knock.

She’s Still Got That Fighting Spirit

Claire’s been in the business for years. Long before Corrie, she was playing Lindsey Corkhill on Brookside. She’s also done loads of theatre, Chicago, Guys and Dolls, Hairspray; you name it. She even released a top-20 album back in 2002.

CS/ Claire has always showed her strength on-screen

Since joining Coronation Street in 2023 as Cassie Plummer, she’s brought so much depth to the role. Hopefully, she’ll be back on her feet soon. Until then, fans are just glad she shared the update, even if it wasn’t the happiest one. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for all the latest drama from Coronation Street and beyond.
