Kevin Webster thought he had put an end to the chaos when he fired his brother Carl from the garage. His decision came after growing suspicious of how close Carl was getting to Abi. What Kevin didn’t realise was that his fears had already come true; Carl and Abi had crossed the line before his dismissal. Kevin believed getting rid of Carl would drive him away from Weatherfield, but that plan collapsed quickly.
Carl insisted he needed to stay close, claiming he wanted to support Debbie as she battled the early stages of dementia. In private, though, he admitted to Abi that his real reason for hanging around was her. Their secret passion might have remained hidden if not for Tracy Barlow. She stumbled upon the truth after Debbie suffered a frightening collapse, and Tracy quickly decided to use it to her advantage. She demanded cash for her silence, leaving Abi and Carl scrambling for a way out.

Under mounting pressure, Abi suggested she and Carl should run away to Germany, a desperate escape plan to dodge Tracy’s blackmail.
