Kelli Hollis Opens Up On Her Father’s Dark Past!
Kelli Hollis, who played Ali Spencer in the soap from 2011 to 2015, spoke to Manchester Evening News, where she shared a personal story. She previously moved to Thailand for a career change. The soap star said that she was nervous about opening up. She said that she isn’t ashamed of the situation, either. She and her father, Gwynne Thomas Hollis, no longer have a relationship.
The former soap actor shared that her father was her world. She hasn’t spoken to him for 10 years, but it’s not because he has gone to prison. She said that her father used to call her son because she is the only girl and the oldest. Kelli loves her father. Her mother and father separated when she was three, but her father was always there for her.
However, Kelli soon realised that her father was a part of the crime related to supplying drugs. Once she even cried in the court when her father was jailed. The former soap actor added that she is from Beeston in Leeds. Life there isn’t easy, and she has worked in a local pub. So, everyone knows everyone’s business. She realised that her father was a drug dealer.

However, Kelli became an actor and grabbed the big roles in Shameless as Yvonne Karib and in Emmerdale as Ali Spencer. The actor and her father appeared in Tina Goes Shopping. She said that her father enjoyed it, but he couldn’t risk her career. In June 2023, Gwynne was guilty of conspiring to supply A drugs in June 2023. The police arrested him, and he was sentenced to 17 years.
She said that she knew it would happen. However, it wasn’t expected that he would run off and not go to court. Elsewhere, the actor’s fans might know that she moved to Thailand, where she managed a weed shop and lived there for two and a half years before she came back in November. She also spoke on it and said that it was legal. Kelli added that she won’t speak to her father. Meanwhile, people are surprised that Kelli doesn’t speak to her father.
However, other family members support him. The former soap actor said that her father isn’t a violent person. He was a good guy. Gwynne wasn’t somebody whom people were afraid of.
