She died on a dramatic New Year’s Day in 2017 along with her sister, Ronnie Mitchell. They both drowned in the hotel pool at Ronnie’s wedding to Jack Branning. Since then, fans have demanded their return. However, the storyline was such that it was impossible.
Lord Sugar even joked, saying that Rita, who played Roxy, could re-enter the soap as Roxy’s cousin. He even gave a cheeky name, calling her “Poxy Mitchell”. In the video, he told Rita, “Now look, Rita. There is no way you’re ever going to convince the BBC to bring you back into EastEnders. So you’ve got to come back as a cousin of who you were.”
Rita was laughing in the video and asked if the BBC would consider this idea. Sugar then assured her that they should do it. Their conversation has increased fans’ hopes.
