Coronation Street has seen plenty of change in 2025. Some well-known characters have said goodbye, others are making a big return, and a few new faces are about to join the street. From Jenny Connor’s emotional exit to Bethany Platt’s comeback, the cobbles have been full of surprises. And with more unexpected twists on the way, the real question is, who’s leaving next, and who might be coming back when fans least expect it?
Who Is Exiting Coronation Street?
This year has already seen several characters depart. Max Turner began a prison sentence, Yasmeen Metcalfe left for a fresh start in London, and Daisy Midgeley’s quiet taxi farewell tugged at heartstrings. Now, some even bigger names are moving on.

Sally Ann Matthews has confirmed her exit as Jenny Connor, ending nearly four decades tied to the role. On Instagram, she explained that her five-month contract turned into an extra ten years because she loved the show so much, but it was now time to chase roles she had always hoped to play when she had “grown up.” Jenny’s last episode aired on 1 October.
Adam Hussain has also left Weatherfield, exiting his role as Aadi Alahan. He told fans in a heartfelt social media post that the secret was out, he would be leaving Corrie after five years of learning and growing, grateful for the friendships and memories he made. He added that it was more of a “see you later” than a goodbye. Aadi’s exit saw him leave for a new life in India in August.

Another big departure is Daniel Brocklebank, who will bow out later this year as Billy Mayhew after 11 years. He shared that he had loved every minute at Corrie but felt ready for the next step. Producer Kate Brooks revealed that Billy will face a major storyline before his exit, one that will test both his friendships and his faith. Channique Sterling-Brown is also set to leave as Dee-Dee Bailey.
Who Is Returning To Coronation Street?
Fans will be thrilled to know that Catherine Tyldesley is reprising her role as Eva Price. Last seen in 2018, Eva left Weatherfield with baby Susie after Aidan Connor’s tragic death. Producers have teased her comeback as “unmissable,” with filming beginning in the summer and Eva’s first episodes set for autumn 2025. Viewers are eager to know whether Susie will return with her and how Toyah Habeeb will be pulled into the story.

Bethany Platt is also back. Lucy Fallon has returned from maternity leave and already filmed her comeback scenes. Bethany had been written out earlier this year with a job offer in London, but Fallon shared her excitement about stepping back into the role with a playful selfie captioned “she’s back.”
Coronation Street confirmed in April that filming would resume in summer, and Bethany’s on-screen return is happening from 3 October 2025. Iain MacLeod also left the door open for a future return from Helen Worth as Gail Chadwick.

He explained that Helen herself suggested she might want to return for big Platt family storylines, so producers intentionally wrote her exit to allow the possibility. While there are no concrete plans, the potential for Gail’s comeback keeps fans hopeful.
New Characters On The Way
Eva Price’s return won’t be a solo act, she’s bringing new characters into Weatherfield with her. Hope Street star Aaron McCusker is set to play Ben Driscoll, Eva’s new partner. McCusker is already familiar to audiences as pub landlord Clint Dunwoody, and his arrival promises to shake up the Rovers.

Joining him is Pauline McLynn as Maggie, Ben’s mother. Known to many as Mrs Doyle from Father Ted, McLynn also has a strong soap pedigree from EastEnders and Shameless. With her character described as interfering, Maggie’s arrival hints at family drama and plenty of tension.
Executive producer Kate Brooks has also teased that more returning faces will appear before the year is out. While names remain under wraps, she suggested these characters will bring their own brand of chaos back to the cobbles.
