While we are still scratching our heads, few leaks that have made their way to the internet a day before its release, have left fans doubting her relationship with best friend Selena Gomez and singer Charlie Puth.
One of the leaks involves an interesting line where Taylor praises Charlie Puth, calling him the “bigger artist.” Now, that’s something to capture Swifties’ attention! Swift sings in one of her songs from The Tortured Poets Department, “We declared Charlie Puth should be a bigger artist.”
While the lyrics confused her fans, “Charlie Puth” name hints that Taylor Swift is talking about none other than her best friend, Selena Gomez, who had a messy relationship with Puth. It all started in 2016 after Gomez broke up with Justin Bieber. The same year, Gomez and Puth teased their first-ever collaboration, “We Don’t Talk Anymore,” which was undoubtedly a smashing hit.
However, shortly after the announcement, rumors sparked that Gomez and Puth were dating. Selena Gomez quickly shut down the rumors. Many later speculated that the song was about Gomez’s ex, Justin, with whom she broke up in 2012. However, it was later believed to be about her relationship with Puth.
Although Selena Gomez never confirmed this news, Puth surprisingly revealed in 2018 that all the dating rumors surrounding the two were true. The Dangerously singer confirmed that he had a brief relationship with Gomez, which, although short-lived, was very impactful. However, a source closer to Selena Gomez claimed that it wasn’t true as the two “never dated.”
While the dating rumors peaked, Puth made another striking announcement. The Left & Right singer took to X/Twitter to shed light on the woman behind his song “Attention.” Puth tweeted, “Attention is about what you think it’s about,” making fans believe that the woman in the song was none other than Selena Gomez. He has deleted the tweet now, but their relationship was messy.

While Gomez and Puth’s relationship remains unclear, Taylor Swift’s lyrics hint at trouble down the road between the two best friends. If you remember, Swift once said that she couldn’t forget those who hurt Gomez.
The Lovers singer also talked about how protective she was of Selena Gomez. Despite that, she praised Charlie Puth, knowing about his relationship with Selena Gomez. So, are the two friends facing complications in their friendship?
Well, Selena Gomez hasn’t commented on Taylor’s 11th studio album yet, so it remains unclear whether the two are on good terms. However, Selena Gomez and Charlie Puth seem on good terms since Gomez’s younger sister, Gracie, snapped up with Puth for Children event in 2022.
