Abi Webster has finally broken her silence in Coronation Street about just how low things have gotten since her marriage to Kevin hit the rocks. From being rejected by potential employers to being betrayed by someone she thought she could trust, she’s reached her breaking point. But as she pours her heart out to Carl, it becomes clear he may have more than comfort on his mind, and what happens next could blow her entire world apart.
A Job Lost and Trust Broken
Abi started the episode with high hopes, moving her belongings into Roy Cropper’s flat and brushing off concerns by insisting the arrangement was only temporary. She had just interviewed for a job at another garage and was confident she’d secured it. But her optimism didn’t last long. She soon received a phone call informing her that she didn’t get the job after all. When she was told it was because of something flagged in her references, she was livid.
Storming out of Roy’s in a rage, she declared she “need[ed] to smash someone’s head in” and headed straight to Kevin’s, certain he was behind it. Kevin, caught off guard, showed her the real source of the damage: a message sent from Jack’s account to the garage, warning them that Abi was “deffo” not to be trusted. Kevin confronted Jack over the email, but while the teenager promised not to do it again, he stubbornly refused to apologise, leaving Abi in total shock.
Tracy Stirs the Pot, Carl Makes His Move
Later, Abi vented her frustrations to Carl at The Rovers, unaware that Tracy Barlow had been listening in. Never one to stay out of drama, Tracy chimed in with a loaded question. She asked, why was Abi letting Kevin get away with everything? She pointed out that Kevin had a house, a thriving business, and that Abi would be entitled to half of it if she divorced him. Abi shut her down quickly, telling her to back off, but the idea didn’t seem to fall on deaf ears.
Back at Roy’s, Carl picked up where Tracy left off. He started painting a rosy picture of a future together; him, Abi, and Alfie in a place of their own. Then he made his intentions clear. “You have to [divorce him] sooner or later, might be better to rip the plaster off now,” he told her. He claimed it would allow them to finally move forward as a proper family. But his timing and eagerness raised more questions.
Abi is now seriously considering divorcing Kevin. And it’s clear that Carl’s influence is playing a major role in that decision. What started as a rant about betrayal has quickly escalated into legal talk and life-changing choices. But is Abi truly thinking about what’s best for her and Alfie?
