Looks like one of the familiar faces of Coronation Street is ready to take a big leap and it’s not something you’d expect from Weatherfield’s vicar. Daniel Brocklebank, who’s played Billy Mayhew for over a decade, is gearing up for something totally different as he prepares to say goodbye to the cobbles.

Billy’s Time on the Cobbles Nears an End

Earlier this year, Daniel shared that he’d be leaving Coronation Street in 2026, wrapping up 12 years of drama, heartbreak, and redemption as Billy Mayhew. Over the years, fans have watched Billy go through everything: love, loss, addiction, and faith struggles, and he’s become one of the show’s most heartfelt characters.

Even though his final scenes haven’t aired yet, Daniel already has his next step lined up. Instead of jumping into another TV role, he’s heading in a completely different direction, one that’s a lot brighter and full of music. It’s a big shift from Weatherfield’s constant chaos, and fans are definitely curious about what he’s doing next.

Daniel’s Big Stage Debut in Coronation Street

Daniel will be stepping onto the stage for Young Frankenstein The Musical at the Liverpool Playhouse this Christmas season. The show is based on Mel Brooks’s 1974 comedy film and tells the story of Dr. Frederick Frankenstein, the grandson of the infamous Victor Frankenstein. After inheriting his family’s estate in Transylvania, Frederick ends up following in his grandfather’s footsteps and brings a new monster to life.

Daniel will play the lead role of Frederick, joined by Amelia Adams, Jessica Martin, and Pete Gallagher as The Monster. The show opens on December 3 and runs through January 3, 2026. According to the show’s description, audiences can expect hilarious chaos as Frederick’s creature escapes and mayhem unfolds, all with that signature Mel Brooks humor.

At the Inside Soap Awards earlier this month, Daniel said he’s thrilled to be doing something so different from Corrie. He shared that it’s a “left-field” move, a musical comedy, complete with singing and dancing. Of course, with Daniel preparing for the stage, Corrie fans can’t help but wonder how Billy’s story will wrap up. The actor confirmed that he already knows how his exit plays out, though he didn’t give away any details.
