Lauren and Peter are worried about their son Jimmy’s eye treatment. However, soon they get many messages about new methods. And they all claim to help children with visual impairment. Something feels fishy at the beginning, but Lauren is unable to ignore them.
Later, she is desperate to explore every option that can be useful to Jimmy. However, when Ian notices all this, he warns her, saying they are all a scam and nonsense. Despite that, she reaches out to a so-called doctor. She can only hope that there’s something real behind these claims. However, the doctor asks for a £3k initial fee to start treatment. Lauren knows it’s a huge amount, but they gave a guarantee, which pushes her to say yes.
They later sent her examples of previous patients to convince her. And to cure her son, Lauren believes them. However, she later confides in Cindy, telling her how she would gather money. But, she is adamant and would do anything for Jimmy. She cannot miss such a big opportunity that has arrived.
Then, in the evening, she joins the fundraising quiz at The Vic. However, there’s an incident that took place involving Jimmy. She soon realised that he desperately needed the treatment. Now she knows that his son needed help immediately, not later. She is now pushed to follow the doctor’s demand. She convinced herself that the money was worth it. And finally, things could settle after this for Jimmy.

The next day, she checks her laptop, only to get a reality check. The doctor she was in contact with never existed. Every story that she read was all fake. And the criminals target such desperate parents like her.
She is left broken as all her money was gone, and the time she invested in reading those stories was a lie. Moreover, neither Cindy, Ian, nor Peter knows that she has been scammed. She constantly blamed herself for failing Jimmy. All she wanted to do was protect him, but now it’s all broken. Will she gather courage and tell her family about it?
