Change is not uncommon on the cobbles of Coronation Street, and now one of its up-and-coming stars has revealed he’s ready to depart. Since joining Coronation Street in 2020, the actor has made his presence felt on the Alahan family saga and become a Weatherfield regular. Off-camera, he established himself in the whirlwind of soaps with steady confidence. Now, after five years in the role of Aadi Alahan, Adam Hussain is ready for his next move.
A Steady Switch Before a Dramatic Farewell
On April 11, Adam Hussain posted on Instagram to confirm his departure from Coronation Street, ending increasing speculation. He explained that he would be leaving the character of Aadi Alahan to pursue “new pastures.” Although the news was already out among certain fans, he expressed his profound thanks for his time on the soap.
Adam revealed that the last five years had been an education in the acting profession and life, and he now felt prepared to “spread his wings a little.” He gave genuine thanks to Coronation Street and ITV for giving him the chance to play Aadi. Although he described his departure as a leaving, he said it wasn’t goodbye for Aadi but rather a “see you later.”
The actor also reminisced fondly about the friendships he’s formed on the show, stating that those friendships will be lifetime ones. He called Coronation Street a “special family” and teased a sense of anticipation about the future.
Digital Spy stated that Adam had already informed the show’s producers about his departure to pursue other work. Nonetheless, he will continue to appear on the show until the end of summer.
Coronation Street: Adam Hussain Confirms Departure and Looks Back on His Journey
Adam initially joined the soap when he took on the role of Aadi Alahan, previously played by Zennon Ditchett. Zennon had left the show to concentrate on his studies, paving the way for Adam to put his own spin on the character. In a 2021 interview with Digital Spy, Adam referred to the transition as something he learned from.
He explained that succeeding another actor brought its level of pressure. Some fans were initially caught off guard, even negative about the recast, but Adam simply rolled with it. He admitted feeling nervous and self-conscious at first, particularly since he was stepping into the shoes of someone who had been in the role for a very long time.
Nevertheless, he was satisfied with the way the audience later accepted him. He developed into the role over time, and the character grew him as a person and a professional. He attributed the series to transforming him as an actor and person, stating that the experience was transformational.
As fans bid farewell to Aadi, Adam’s words will remind them of the path many actors follow behind the scenes. His time on Coronation Street is about to end, but his presence will be felt by fans and cast members alike. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more such Coronation Street updates.
