The Positions singer recently appeared on You series actor Penn Badgley’s podcast Podcrushed, where she revealed her dream dinner guest. Ariana Grande admitted that she previously told her young fans that her dream dinner guest was the infamous serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer. He was known for Milwaukee Cannibal, raping, killing, and dismembering 17 males between 1978 and 1991.
Ariana Grande recalled that a younger group of her fans and their parents had a Q&A session with the singer when she was playing Cat from Sam & Cat. A kid asked, “If you could have dinner with anyone, living or dead, who would it be?” While the question surprised Grande, with the kids’ parents’ permission, Ariana Grande shared that she was fascinated by Jeffrey Dahmer.
Grande continued that she had been infatuated with serial killers since she was young. The Thank U, Next singer shared in the podcast that it was her honest answer. She did like Jeffrey Dahmer and would have loved to meet him. That’s because she has so many questions to ask. While Ariana Grande seemed excited to share about Jeffrey, her fans weren’t glad to hear such an answer from their idol.
As soon as the podcast aired, many questioned why Dahmer would be her person. Some even called her insensitive and a tone-deaf person who doesn’t care about other people’s pain. A user on Reddit even tried to remind Ariana Grande that the victims’ families are still alive. One commenter also pointed out what was wrong with Grande’s statement.
They pointed out that Grande shared the statement at a Q&A session with children and their parents. She could have picked someone other than a murderer when she addressed children. The person continued, “The overexcitement of how she’s saying it now, I’m hoping she didn’t say it that way in the past.”
