Euphoria fans cheer up. We have pleasant news for you. Zendaya is gearing up to return with Euphoria Season 3. That’s right! Following the speculation that the actress won’t reprise her role as Rue Bennett in the third season, we have good news. HBO has confirmed that the third season of Euphoria will soon undergo production. Finally! It’s been three years since fans have waited for the announcement after Season 2 was released in 2022.
However, we have bad news as well. The series won’t return this year. HBO has confirmed that Euphoria Season 3 will start production in January 2025. Francesca Orsi, the network’s Executive Vice President and head of HBO drama and film series, said they are thrilled to announce that “we are ready to begin production on Euphoria in January.” Orsi continued by saying they are glad to work with their creative partner, Sam Levinson, and his incredible cast.
Francesca Orsi added, “We look forward to bringing this new season of Euphoria to life for the fans.” While fans are happy to learn that the series will finally return with another season, many asked the production team to cancel it. One person said on social media, “2025? Just cancel the show already.” Another wrote, “Why did it take them so long? At this point, they’re no longer teenagers.”
There’s no denying that the series has been on halt for three years for various reasons. The third season’s production experienced a series of setbacks. Last year’s SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes delayed the production of Euphoria Season 3. After things settled, the actors’ busy schedules created problems for the series.
Later, in July 2023, one of the prominent cast members, Angus Cloud, tragically died at the age of 25. This created a big problem for the team as they had to rewrite his character, Fez, who was critical to the storyline. Many believed Fez and Zendaya’s Rue would see a ray of light in Euphoria Season 3. Some also wished to see a budding romance between the two. However, it will never happen.
While Angus’s death put a break on the series’ production, it met with another setback. The series producer, Kevin Turen, died of heart failure, further creating problems for Euphoria. Although things weren’t great for the series, Zendaya is optimistic about returning with season 3. She previously shared that she hoped her character could get a happy ending in the upcoming season.
Zendaya claims, “We carried her all the way to hopefully what is rock bottom and a dark moment.” However, she hopes the ending will be worth it and bring joy to Rue’s life. This is all about Zenday’s Euphoria Season 3. Stay with Soap Opera Daily for more such announcements.
