Sabrina Carpenter is a versatile singer who has always amazed her fans with stunning music. However, casting none other than Academy Award nominee Barry Keoghan in her latest single, “Please Please Please,” music video has left fans on their toes. Barry is known for his amazing acting career, and how can one forget his role in Saltburn and Banshees of Inisherin?
There’s no denying that he slayed in both movies. However, acting in a short music video requires fabulous acting skills. Even a veteran casting director, Kristen Paladino, agrees on that. In her recent interview, Paladino shared how it could be challenging for the actors to act in a short music video.
While movies have a dialogue to deliver, this isn’t the case in music videos. Actors have to deliver the narrative through their expression. Thus, it becomes the hardest thing to do. However, Barry Keoghan has proven that he can do this smoothly. His expressions in the music video are undoubtedly impressive.
But there’s more to his role than just acting. In an interview with Vogue, Sabrina Carpenter’s stylist, Ron Hartleben, and the video’s director, Bardia Zeinali, opened up about Barry’s dedication. Ron shared that “Barry was super committed” to his role, and it was great having him in the music video.
His commitment speaks volumes here; as Bardia mentioned, it was a one-day shoot. Surprisingly, Barry came the day before to shoot the music video. He did a blocking rehearsal with their stunt coordinator for the fighting scene. Barry Keoghan even stayed for 16 hours to film Sabrina Carpenter’s“Please Please Please.”
Bardia added that the amount of energy, effort, and generosity Barry Keoghan added to the video was unmatchable. Though he knew the music video was centric on Sabrina Carpenter, his dedication was unique. The video director added that Barry has a different charisma than Sabrina Carpenter, but they have the same spirit.
However, Ron faced a little challenge working with Barry, as they both have different fashion tastes. The costume designer had some other plans for Barry’s outfits. Ron Hartleben revealed that he wanted to make Barry’s character much like Reservoir Dogs’ callback so he could wear a suit that gets messy in the end.
However, Barry wanted to make his wardrobe like Ray Liotta’s duty in Goodfellas—more like an Irish mob. Well, it perfectly suited the character! Meanwhile, for Sabrina Carpenter, Ron created outfits that can portray more femme and sweet nature but the one in charge.
Nothing can match the vibe like va va boom or Alaia hooded dress for Carpenter. While Sabrina Carpenter was undoubtedly in charge of the song “Please Please Please,” Barry Keoghan won everyone’s heart with his dynamic performance.
This is all about Barry Keoghan’s role in Sabrina Carpenter’s music video, “Please Please Please.” Stay with Soap Opera Daily for more such updates.
