There‘s no lack of whispers circulating through Fairmont Crest. And while some fans may believe Nurse Shanice is at the center of all that soap, the actress who portrays her has a different take. Ernestine Johnson, who appears as Shanice on Beyond the Gates, spoke out about the character‘s reputation.
Shanice Says It Like It Is
Though fans might roll their eyes at the nurse‘s tendency to opine about nearly everything, Johnson assures that Shanice isn‘t out to cause trouble, determined to do so, at least. “See, people say that Shanice is a gossip,” the actress explained recently in an interview with Soaps.com. “I think she‘s just curious.”
She continued to explain that Shanice doesn‘t mince words. “She just tells the truth,” Johnson said, adding that most people hate the truth. But Shanice doesn’t. “She‘s given herself permission to speak about the truth of everything.” If someone doesn‘t want to hear what Shanice has to tell them? According to Johnson, there is an easy answer: “Do better. Then she won‘t have to talk about you.
No Party Invites for Shanice in Beyond the Gates
When it came to some of the town‘s biggest recent events, fans mighthave realized one exception character was missing. Shanice didn‘t receive an invitation to either Bill and Hayley‘s wedding-turned-havoc or Ted and Nicole‘s blowout anniversary party.
“Yeah, Shanice was a little salty that she didn‘t get an invite,” Johnson confessed with a chuckle. Fans were also let down, particularlybecause we didn’t get to see Shanice glam it up outside her usual hospital scrubs.
And those party outfits? Johnson saluted the BTG costume design team, declaring, “The costume department killed it.” She suggested that Shanice‘s moment in the spotlight could still be forthcoming.
