This week on Beyond the Gates, things in Fairmont Crest got uglier than ever. Leslie dived deeper into delusion, Kat dug deeper like a pro, and Ashley and Derek’s love story hit another roadblock.
Kat Connects the Dots
Kat eventually brought Ted and Nicole up to speed on her hypothesis regarding Eva and Leslie’s involvement in Laura’s hit-and-run and the potassium tampering. Nicole was immediately threatened, but Ted jumped to Eva’s defense and blamed the whole thing on Leslie. Jacob was summoned, but once again, Kat beat him to it.
She steered Shanice towards a memory of a nurse with an ill attitude hanging around the evening Laura was poisoned. That mysterious woman may be one of Leslie’s numerous alter egos. In case Shanice remembers the name “Lulu Lenhart,” Kat might be even nearer to pinning down Leslie.
Leslie Spirals and Ashley Implodes in Beyond the Gates
While that was going on, Leslie cranked up the mayhem. She entered Eva’s hotel room, took a new outfit for herself, and then pretended to dress up as Nicole in front of a mirror. Her threats became more audacious, directed at Kat, Laura, and even Eva.
Over in heartbreak corner, Ashley lashed out at Derek. Derek made an effort to fix it, but Ashley shut him down. He left quietly, and she ran straight to Andre for comfort. Andre, fresh off Dani’s rejection, ignored Dani’s call to be with Ashley. That move said a lot, and none of it was good.
A Few Bright Spots
Chelsea’s coming out to Dani was a welcome change of pace. Dani answered with love and affection, revealing a different aspect of herself. And Anita’s conversation about her girl group days brought some good depth.
Even June’s cheeky As the World Turns nod provided old soapgoers with a nostalgic wink. But all did not work. Tomas acting both Kat and Eva was simply cruel, and Martin’s handling of Smitty came across as chilly. Hayley and Bill? Still stuck in comment mode.
