Haley Hamilton’s latest move on Beyond the Gates has taken a dark turn, and fans are finally seeing just how far she is willing to go. With her plan against her husband Bill now out in the open, actress Marquita Goings is sharing when she first found out about the twist and what it meant for the way she played Haley on screen.
Marquita Goings Learned About Haley’s Deadly Plan Weeks Before Filming
One of the most talked-about storylines right now focuses on Haley Hamilton plotting to kill her husband, Bill Hamilton, played by Timon Kyle Durrett. While viewers have only recently seen the reveal, Goings had already known about it for some time.
She shared that she found out the full details about two months before filming the big reveal, explaining that she “knew in detail maybe two months before we filmed what was really going on.” That gave her enough time to understand how serious the storyline would become.

Even earlier, she had a feeling something unusual was coming. Goings recalled a moment on set when she tried to play Haley differently in a scene. The producers stopped her and told her to continue the way she had been performing because a twist was coming. She remembered them saying to keep doing what she was doing, which made her curious about what was ahead.
When she finally received the scripts that revealed Haley’s true intentions, Goings described the moment as “mind-blowing.” It completely changed how she looked at the character and the story.
Goings Break Down Haley’s ‘Kill Bill’ Plot in Beyond the Gates
After reading the scripts, Goings had a detailed discussion with executive producer Julie Hanan Carruthers, who explained the direction of the storyline. That conversation helped her understand the deeper side of Haley’s plan. Goings said she was excited about the twist and even thought to herself that this was going to be fun to play.
Instead of seeing Haley as just a negative character, she focused on showing different sides of her personality. She also explained that not knowing everything from the beginning actually helped her performance.

In the early stages, she played Haley as someone who came across as kind and pleasant, even though she was not liked by many people in the story.
She said Haley still felt “very sweet, in a sense” during those moments. Looking back, Goings said she approached Haley as someone trying to win people back. Her attitude was more apologetic rather than confrontational. She did not want Haley to come across as someone boasting or claiming victory over others.
The actor also admitted that if she had known the full story earlier, she might have played Haley in a more openly unpleasant way. That, according to her, would have affected how viewers see the character now. There is much more to uncover as the story continues.
