Outside of Fairmont Crest, however, Beyond the Gates fans have been speculating of late, and it has absolutely nothing to do with the soap’s latest drama. Mike Manning, the actor who portrays Bradley “Smitty” Smith on the CBS soap, is making headlines for a brand-new endeavor outside of the soap. But while that’s exciting, it also generated some serious questions regarding his future on the show.
Manning Announces at Film Festival
Mike Manning, who plays Bradley “Smitty” Smith on Beyond the Gates, recently introduced his latest project: a new series called The Psionicum. Described as a comedy set at the “world’s seventh-most-famous college of the paranormal,” the show follows students and staff as they deal with life, love, and more than a few supernatural surprises, all while being filmed by a documentary crew.
A trailer for the series is now live on the official website, and viewers won’t have to wait long to see the full pilot. The 24-minute episode is set to premiere at the Dances with Films Festival on June 21. As exciting as this announcement is, it’s also caused a bit of a stir. With Manning busy working on a new show, some fans speculates whether he might be leaving Beyond the Gates.
Smitty’s Not Going Anywhere From Beyond the Gates
Not long after the speculation started, Manning took to Instagram Stories to shut the rumors down. He assured fans, “Thanks for the concern kids but Smitty ain’t leaving the show. Love you. If you’re pressed, plz stop spreading misinformation. The world is chaotic enough.”
Manning’s soap opera journey began in 2020 when he joined Days of Our Lives as Charlie Dean. Since then, he’s appeared in Youthful Daze as Collin Morris and in The Bay as Caleb McKinnon. His on-screen work is only part of the story. Manning also has experience behind the scenes as a producer on The Passion Project, and producer on The Bay.
So while he’s clearly expanding his creative portfolio, fans can rest easy knowing Smitty isn’t going anywhere. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more updates, interviews, and all the latest from Beyond the Gates.
