Nicole Richardson Dupree’s life on Beyond the Gates has taken a dramatic turn, and this time, she isn’t trying to hold everything together. After a deeply personal collapse that changed everything she believed in, Nicole is stepping into a version of herself that even she didn’t expect. Now, Daphnée Duplaix is opening up about this new chapter and the surprising choices that come along with it.
Nicole’s Life Turns Upside Down in Beyond the Gates
In a recent appearance on The Gatekeepers Podcast, Daphnée Duplaix spoke openly about Nicole’s emotional journey after her marriage to Ted, played by Keith D. Robinson, fell apart.
That relationship had defined Nicole for years, so losing it didn’t just hurt; it completely disrupted her sense of identity. At the start, Nicole found it difficult to cope.

Duplaix explained that she felt conflicted and uncomfortable stepping into unfamiliar territory, saying Nicole was “definitely torn at the beginning because it’s so not who she is.” Everything she once relied on disappeared.
A turning point came after meaningful conversations with her sister Dani and her mother Anita. Both encouraged her to look at life differently, and their advice stayed with her. Duplaix shared that after those talks, Nicole began exploring new experiences and allowed herself to enjoy things again instead of resisting change.
A Carefree Side and New Romances
This version of Nicole feels very different compared to the one viewers have seen over the years. Duplaix described her as someone who has always been highly structured and disciplined. Now, she is stepping away from that rigid mindset and allowing herself to be more spontaneous.

Duplaix also noted that this is the first time Nicole has truly allowed herself to let go and enjoy life without overthinking every decision. That change becomes especially clear in her romantic life. Nicole is currently exploring connections with Dr. Carlton Fitzgerald and Dr. Kial Rollins.
Filming those romantic scenes turned into an unexpected experience for Duplaix as well. She laughed while recalling how close together those scenes were scheduled, saying that having “two guys in a week” felt surprising. But she embraced the moment and went along with it.

There is a deeper reason behind this bold new phase. Nicole came out of a situation that had taken over her entire world; her marriage, her family, and her sense of stability. When everything fell apart, she decided she didn’t want to carry anger or resentment anymore.
Nicole’s journey is clearly entering a new phase, and it brings a version of her that feels more open and unpredictable than ever before. She is no longer trying to fit into the expectations that once defined her. And that freedom is changing how she approaches life. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more Coronation Street spoilers.
