If you tune into Beyond the Gates next week expecting new episodes, you’ll see something different. CBS is going back to the very start of the series. They are re-airing the premiere week. As fans began to ask, “why now?”, the show’s creator finally stepped in to explain what’s happening.
CBS Hits Pause, and Everyone’s Talking
Instead of new drama, we’ll have a full week of reruns. CBS chose to air the original premiere episodes from when BTG first launched in February. This gives anyone who missed the start a chance to catch up. For regular viewers, it’s definitely a twist they didn’t expect.
This pause will last five days, plus both weekends, leading to basically two full weeks without anything new. It gets a bit more complicated because Canadian fans were already a day ahead due to earlier interruptions, and now it’s unclear how this rerun schedule will affect their broadcasts.
Michele Val Jean Clears the Air Regarding Beyond the Gates
When fans began discussing the sudden change, Michele Val Jean, the show’s creator, shared her thoughts on X. She said decisions like this are made above her pay grade, so she didn’t have inside information. But she added the good news is, it’s the premiere week reruns, making it perfect for those wanting to catch up from the beginning.
Fans filled her comments with support. One person told her to enjoy her vacation and said she deserved it. Another fan mentioned it’s a great chance to get new people interested in the show. Someone else noted that if people are this upset about reruns, it just shows how much BTG already means to its fans.
A Soap That’s Already Making History
Even though we’re hitting pause for a bit, Beyond the Gates is still doing something special. CBS describes it as a soap set in an upscale Black neighbourhood just outside D.C. The Dupree family is at the heart of the story. Behind all the perfect lawns and luxury, there are many juicy secrets.
The show boasts a large cast, over 30 actors, and features soap legends like Clifton Davis, Tamara Tunie, Karla Mosley, and Daphnée Duplaix. It’s also the first new daytime soap in 25 years and the first Black-led hour-long soap ever. Michele Val Jean created it with Sheila Ducksworth as executive producer, along with CBS Studios, the NAACP, and P&G Studios.
So yes, we have reruns next week, but don’t worry, the drama will return before you know it. Keep checking in with Soap Opera Daily for all the latest Beyond the Gates news and spoilers!
