Debbie Webster has always been tough as nails, but in upcoming Coronation Street scenes, she ends up making a scene at the hotel, and it leaves Ryan Connor completely thrown. What looks like a typical run-in with a difficult guest quickly turns into something much more personal, and deeply worrying.
Debbie’s Trying to Keep It Together
Earlier this year, Debbie was diagnosed with dementia, but she didn’t tell anyone except her brother Carl. She was adamant, she could manage things herself and didn’t want anyone fussing. That worked for a while, until she collapsed at Speed Daal back in June. Everyone around her panicked and insisted she go to the hospital, but Debbie calmly said there was no need, she already knew what was wrong.
Since then, she’s been powering through like always, still showing up at the hotels, doing her job, acting like everything’s fine. But Ryan’s been watching closely, and he’s starting to think she might be pushing herself a bit too far. Things come to a head when Debbie and Ryan are working the front desk together and an angry hotel guest starts talking about her allergies.
Debbie’s Response Leaves Ryan Stunned
Now here’s where it gets wild. Debbie doesn’t back down, she actually talks straight into the camera and says the duvets and pillows are hypo-allergenic and she can’t control the pollen outside. She says it like it’s nothing. Then she just walks off, leaving Ryan behind to clean up the mess.
Ryan steps in, does his best to calm the guest down, apologises, and even convinces her to delete the footage. Crisis averted, or so he thinks. Because then, completely out of the blue, Debbie grabs Ryan and kisses him, full on the lips. Just like that. To her, it’s a thank you. Nothing more, nothing less. But Ryan’s left stunned.
Things Get Serious in Coronation Street
Later, Ryan opens up to Ronnie and tells him everything. He admits he’s genuinely worried about Debbie and doesn’t know how to help. Ronnie listens and, from the sound of it, he’s just as concerned. Not long after, Debbie confronts Ryan. She’s clearly annoyed and wants to know why he’s been acting differently.
Ryan tells her he was just looking out for her because he’s her friend and he cares. He even points out that someone else might not have handled things with as much understanding. But Debbie’s proud.
She’s never liked being seen as vulnerable, and the fact that people are now starting to treat her differently doesn’t sit well. Debbie’s trying her best to carry on as usual, but the signs are becoming harder to ignore for her and for everyone around her.
