Chrissy Teigen is making a strong case for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit to consider her suggestion for their next cover star. Chrissy said, “Please, please, please” during a discussion about her partnership with Metro by T-Mobile’s Nada Yada Island campaign. The 38-year-old model thinks it would be “iconic and amazing” to see singer Sabrina Carpenter on the cover of a future issue. Teigen said, referring to the 25-year-old “Espresso” singer, “We’re obsessed with her music right now.”
Sabrina Carpenter, who recently posed for Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS campaign, is no newbie to steamy photoshoots. So, she would be a natural fit for the S.I. cover! Recently, Sabrina received some backlash from Swifties for collaborating with Taylor’s longtime rival. However, the Sue Me singer quickly bruised off any rumors of a feud with Swift. Meanwhile, Chrissy, who was Sports Illustrated’s Rookie of the Year in 2010, also reminisced about past cover models.
These are the women whom she’d love to see come back. Teigen mentioned Czech model Petra Nemcova. “When I get an email from Petra, it’s like a poem. She’s the most positive, aspirational person I think I’ve ever met.” Moreover, she’d also love to see Irina Shayk back on the cover. Let us tell you that Sports Illustrated has a history of featuring models from diverse backgrounds. Last year, Martha Stewart made history as the oldest model to grace the cover at 81.
Looking ahead, Teigen is pitching new frontiers for the magazine, including featuring men. Interestingly, her pick for the first male cover star is Canadian PM Justin Trudeau. In April, Teigen was among twenty-nine returning stars featured on the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 60th Anniversary Legends cover. Additionally, Martha Stewart, Gayle King, Tyra Banks, Christie Brinkley, and Winnie Harlow, among other legendary faces, joined the model.
At the issue’s launch party in NYC, Teigen shared with Extra how her daughter Luna helped out during the 2024 photoshoot. “She loved watching me in glam, getting hair and makeup done. She puts on my shoes, everything.” While always fashion-forward, Teigen told PEOPLE she’s “very stylish” and doesn’t take credit for her chic looks. At home in Los Angeles, Chrissy prefers a more laid-back style, usually sporting “all black, everything.”
Her daily go-to outfit includes Lululemon leggings, a Hanro bra, and a Guest in Residence cardigan. “I don’t even have time to tie my shoes. I only get the slide-on APLs,” she revealed.
