There’s rarely a quiet Christmas on Coronation Street, and this year looks no different. The cobbles are about to witness another dramatic holiday season, and with the Rovers Return back in focus, it seems one familiar face might be right at the centre of it all.

Trouble at The Rovers

The Weatherfield pub has recently become the talk of the town after Eva Price made her grand return to take over ownership of The Rovers Return. Arriving with her partner Ben Driscoll and his family, Eva’s comeback immediately shook things up, both behind the bar and within the community. For Glenda Shuttleworth, played by Jodie Prenger, the change of hands was unsettling. She feared her place at the pub could be under threat as new faces moved in and business dynamics shifted.

Still, despite her worries, Glenda stood her ground, determined not to be pushed aside so easily. Jodie mentioned in a recent chat on Soap Scoop, the Inside Soap podcast, that her character has no plans to pack up her bar towel anytime soon. While there’s plenty of tension around the Driscolls’ arrival, there’s also a sense of curiosity brewing and Glenda, ever the observant type, seems to be taking it all in.

Glenda Senses Something “Shocking”

When asked about what viewers can expect this Christmas, Jodie hinted that fans should brace themselves for a mix of warmth and chaos. She said the festive storyline will be “very dramatic” and centred on family, but also teased that Glenda “clocks something” that leaves her stunned. The actress explained that Glenda is the type who quietly notices things and forms her opinions from what she sees. This time, what she notices appears to be quite alarming.

Jodie revealed that while the storyline promises a shocking twist, it won’t be all doom and gloom. In true Corrie fashion, she said the show balances “joy and drama all rolled into one.” The actress also addressed her character’s concerns about the new family behind the bar.

Jodie admitted Glenda initially feels insecure about her job but added that she quickly warms up to Maggie. She also shared that she’s thrilled to be working again with her good friend Cath Tyldesley, who portrays Eva. Despite her doubts, Glenda isn’t going anywhere. She’s firmly “Pritt Stick-ing her feet to that floor” and ready to pull plenty more pints. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for all the latest Coronation Street spoilers, updates, and festive scoops.
