Coronation Street viewers are in for another tearful goodbye as another well-known character is set to leave Weatherfield. The ITV soap, renowned for its gripping storylines and iconic residents, is experiencing a season of change, with several stars leaving the cobbles. Following a string of high-profile cast exits since the start of the year, another name is on the list.
A Familiar Face Gets Ready to Say Goodbye
Adam Hussain, who has played Aadi Alahan since 2020, has formally announced that he is departing Coronation Street. Stepping into the role from Zennon Ditchett, Adam introduced new depth to the character throughout a five-year run. It was quite an experience filled with dramatic turns and emotional moments.
Posting the news on Instagram, Adam uploaded a recent cast photo and pondered his experience. He indicated that the cat was out of the bag and admitted that many fans might have heard he was leaving. Adam stated that he was branching out to “new pastures” and had learned much about the world and the industry while working on the soap.
He is now ready to spread his wings. The star gushed fondly about Corrie, recalling that he had met friends for life and would miss the “special family” on set.
Despite departing, he reassured fans that it won’t be an Aadi farewell forever but a “see you later.” Gratefully thanking Corrie for getting to play the character of Aadi, he concluded his announcement by stating how he was already excited for whatever came next.
Coronation Street: Aadi To Remain On Screens Throughout the Summer
Aadi was first introduced in 2006 and has featured in several intense plots. Since Adam took the role, the character has experienced romantic storylines with Summer Spellman and Amy Barlow. His plots also explored life-or-death drama, such as being shot while defending fiancée Kelly Neelan from kidnappers. This followed a car explosion, where his father Dev rescued his sister Asha rather than him. Fortunately, all three lived to tell the tale.
In one of his recent plots, Aadi gets romantically involved with Courtney Vance (Stephanie Davis), a married older woman. Dev’s business associate is her husband. The romance attracts a lot of attention and ends in tragedy when Courtney goes back to her husband.
Outside Coronation Street, Adam co-hosts a podcast about movies called Going for a Take with actors Ben Stevenson-Langley and Matthew Khan. The three of them chat about new film releases regularly and interview other industry professionals.
In 2023, Adam was in the headlines for another reason after fans spotted him liking a series of tweets from contentious influencer Andrew Tate. The actor publicly addressed the issue, offering an apology for any offence caused. He explained that he was unaware of Tate’s background and assured fans he did not support such views. He stated that his likes were made without knowing the context and promised to be more mindful.
Corrie Faces a Wave of Departures in 2025
Adam’s exit joins a lengthy roster of departures that have rebuilt the show’s cast list this year. Luca Toolan and Paddy Bever have already bid farewell in their roles as Mason Radcliffe and Max Turner, while Bethany Platt actress Lucy Fallon is presently on maternity leave.
They also feature long-standing favorites like Sue Cleaver, Charlotte Jordan’s Daisy Midgeley, and more. Looking even further down the line, actress Sue Devaney will also be exiting the show. As Coronation Street looks forward to this next chapter, new faces are promised to continue to define the legacy. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more such soap updates.
