Double trouble drama could be in the pipeline as the worlds of Weatherfield and the Dales are set to meet, and Coronation Street famed Jack P Shepherd isn’t saying no to David Platt getting caught between the two.
Two Soaps, One Wild Hour
Soap viewers have been abuzz since ITV confirmed a daring crossover event between Coronation Street and Emmerdale. Scheduled to air in January, the one-hour special guarantees a high-octane stunt and severe consequences that will have resonance in both worlds.
The crossover launches ITV’s glamorous new “power hour” initiative, as both soaps move to 8pm on weeknights and provide five half-hour episodes per week. But which of the characters will make the move from cobbles to countryside, and what kind of mischief will it lead to?
Coronation Street: Jack Says… Perhaps?!
At the British Soap Awards, Jack P Shepherd couldn’t resist toying with his possible role. When quizzed if David Platt could make an appearance in the special, Jack replied cheekily, “Yes!” But before followers could get too worked up, co-star Ben Price swooped in and wondered if Jack was even meant to say that.
Jack chuckled and confessed he wasn’t really sure what he was permitted to share. “I don’t know for a fact,” he replied. Although he suggested that some of the “key hitters” had probably been informed. “There’s rumours,” he replied, adding with a smile, “I’m sniffing that I might be in the periphery.”
Jack had a bit of a chuckle thinking about how a Corrie–Emmerdale scene might play out. He specifically wondered finding himself meeting up with Dominic Brunt, alias Paddy Dingle. Though Jack didn’t provide any solid assurance, he did drop enough clues to leave viewers wondering. Is David Platt about to head into Emmerdale territory?
