Sally Lindsay, best known for her role as Shelley Unwin in Coronation Street has finally addressed the most-asked question of whether she would ever make a comeback on the ITV soap. It has been nearly two decades since her departure from Weatherfield—now, fans are often speculating about Shelley’s potential return. Will she finally come back?
Sally Reflects On Her Journey
Lindsay, who played Shelley from 2001 to 2006, has portrayed a warm and bubbly landlady who has faced many ups and downs in her relationships. In her exit storyline, we saw Shelley leaving for Derby after discovering she was pregnant with Charlie’s child and vowed never to let him know about the baby. Now, with the recent soap trend of old characters coming back, some Corrie fans hope that she might also come back.
At the Radio Times Covers Party 2025, Lindsay admitted that while she still holds great respect for Coronation Street, she is unsure if she will ever return. She said, “It’s a great job, and I’ve always said this about Coronation Street: never say never. It has been many years now, and I’ve got my own show, and I produce as well, so it’s probably not for me. But I absolutely think it’s the best thing ever for people to go back because it’s like another world. It’s a great job.”
While a Corrie return is nowhere on Lindsay’s cards, she has remained a prominent figure on television in shows like The Madame Blanc Mysteries, Love Rat, and Cold Call. Right now, she stars as Jean White in The Madame Blanc Mysteries, which has garnered her even international fame. Beyond acting, Lindsay also writes and produces the show and draws inspiration from Agatha Christie’s fictional character, Miss Marple. We can’t wait to see what’s next for Lindsay down the line. We will keep you updated as anything new comes up. Until then, stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for more Coronation Street updates.
