Tracy Barlow has never had a smooth time in Coronation Street, particularly when it involves romance. She has experienced numerous heartbreaks, betrayals, and melodramatic reunions. But none quite as entangled as her on-and-off relationship with Steve McDonald. The two have a daughter, Amy Barlow, and their abusive dynamic has driven much of Tracy‘s narrative.
Even though their marriage technically ended last year when she dumped Steve for his football hero, Tommy Orpington, their relationship is still complicated. Now, with Steve‘s recent affair with Cassie Plummer crumbling and Tommy making a major choice, Tracy is caught up in yet another emotional crisis.
Coronation Street Spoilers: Tracy Wants Revenge on Cassie—And Goes to Extreme Lengths to Get It
Once Tracy left Steve, he rekindled things with Cassie, an ex-addict who quickly became unreliable. Cassie secretly spiked Ken Barlow, which infuriated Tracy when she learned that Cassie got little to no punishment. This week, Tracy gets her revenge. She shows Cassie drugs, knowing the risks are enormous. Tracy says it‘s not all about Ken—it‘s about punishing Cassie and ensuring justice is served.
Kate Ford explained Tracy’s mindset: “What [Cassie] did to Ken was extreme. And Tracy’s really angry that it’s gone seemingly unpunished, especially because Steve still seems to find her attractive. It’s not that Tracy wants Steve, but she can’t believe that he would still think that, and it’s like this woman has just gotten away with it.”
Even though she is strongly upset, Ford establishes that Tracy is not bitter about Steve‘s previous relationship with Cassie. She has no residual feelings for Steve and views their relationship as strictly co-parenting.
Tracy struggles to find happiness, but with Tommy drifting away and Rob making a dramatic comeback, her love life is again in disarray. Will she achieve stability, or will she be forever stuck repeating the same things? Tune into Soap Opera Daily for further Coronation Street news.
