Former Coronation Street star Brooke Vincent has always been admired for her role as Sophie Webster on the ITV soap. From 2004 to 2019, we watched her character grow and evolve on screen. Eventually, she became a beloved figure on British television. However, since stepping away from the cobbles, Brooke’s life has taken on a new role—a mother.
She is not holding back from the challenges that come with it. In a recent podcast, she has opened up about her struggles as a mum of two young boys. The best part about it was how candidly she talked about it and especially how she revealed even the non-glamorous part of parenting.
The Emotional Weight of Parenting
Brooke revealed the emotional toll that motherhood has taken on her. She admitted, “I literally vividly remember pretty much every day; I would cry over how hard it was.” The former soap star expressed the pressures she felt while balancing her role as a mother to two boys.
The 32-year-old actress explained, “You want their eldest to have the life they used to have, and you want your youngest to have the life your eldest had.”The constant emotional conflict left her overwhelmed and eventually led her to question her parenting abilities. She also spoke about the challenges of regulating her own emotions while teaching her children to manage theirs.
Describing a typical parenting struggle, she humorously mentioned, “Trying to figure out how to teach a three year old and a five year old that punching him in the face is not necessarily the right thing to do when he’s taken your iPad.” Her honest view of parenting showed us that it isn’t just about sleepless nights or managing tantrums.
For Brooke, one of the most challenging aspects was discovering that her eldest son, Mexx, preferred his dad over her.
