Amanda Barrie recently tweeted to reassure fans of her well-being after she sparked worries through a tweet. The actress, best known for her role as Alma Halliwell on the Dales, tweeted ‘By’ on July 17. This prompted fans to worry about its meaning and quickly reach out to offer their support.
One social media user, Nancy, even expressed concern by saying she hoped Amanda was okay. The former star has now spoken out on the same platform. She explained that it had happened again, referring to a previous incident where she tweeted ‘no’ and now ‘by.’
Both times, the star said, it was caused by her phone slipping down her bed, likely due to her toes. She expressed her gratitude for the concern. Also, she humorously added, “‘You can’t get rid of me that easily. Love you all. X” Fans were relieved to hear she was okay, with one user expressing their happiness with heart emojis and another expressing gratitude that everything was well.
The ITV star was part of Weatherfield from 1981 to 1982 and again from 1988 to 2001. She ran the café with her friend Gail Tilsley before selling it to Roy Cropper. The character even got caught in a feud between Mike Baldwin and Ken Barlow.
Eventually, Alma died of cervical cancer in 2001. Following her exit, the soap actress appeared in the broadcaster’s prison drama Bad Girls.
