Denise Black Discovers Her Character’s Secret Death Off-Screen
Denise Osbourne, who was supposedly killed off-screen, is surprisingly still alive. Actress Denise Black debuted on the ITV soap in 1992. Her initial five years were full of drama, from being stalked by neighbour Don Brennan to dating Ken Barlow and having their son, Daniel.
In 1997, her affair with her brother-in-law was revealed. This prompted her to move to Scotland. Then, Denise made her last appearance when Daniel showed up at Ken’s bedside after his stroke. Everyone was shocked to learn that Denise had abandoned Daniel while he was still in school.
Daniel even took Ken hostage, but thankfully, Denise swooped in just in time to save him. After Daniel was arrested for attacking Ken, Denise promised to move nearby to keep an eye on him. She also signed over her £400k house but has never returned since.

Despite no official mention of the character’s death, actress Denise is convinced her time on the show is over after a fan encounter. She shared on Facebook that while taking a walk, she met a woman who recognised her and then said, ‘You’re dead.’ After the interaction, she was ‘completely gutted’ and looked online but found no confirmation of the alter ego’s death.
However, she highlighted that if Daniel inherited £400,000, it might signal her character’s end. Denise expressed, “God, I loved working on Corrie. Brilliant job, forever grateful,” with hashtags #ripdeniseosbourne, #coronationstreet, and #corriechangedmylife.
Additionally, soap fans probably confused the character with one of Denise’s other roles, Zak Dingle’s third wife, Joanie Wright.
