Audrey Roberts is making a move, and this time, she means it. Now that the Platts are finally back in their home following the blaze, Audrey’s dusting off a long-distant plan and putting it into practice in secret. But as is always the case in Coronation Street, a straightforward decision can have a whole new wave of drama brewing.
A Long-Term Plan Emerges Again
Audrey spoke of her plan in March, when she said she wanted to vacate the house on Grasmere Drive, where she has resided since 1990, to take up residence in the annexe of the Platt house. Of course, the suggestion didn’t sit well with everyone.
David, in particular, wasn’t impressed. He let his parents know straight away he didn’t care for the idea of his gran living so close to him, particularly in the same house. But with the family home being worked on following the February fire, the relocation was kept under wraps. Now that the repairs are finished and the Platts are returned, Audrey’s plans are squarely back on the agenda, and this time, she’s getting things done without needing anyone’s permission.
Coronation Street Actress Saying Goodbye in Style
In a recent episode, Audrey gives Shona a heads-up that she won’t be attending the family barbecue organised to celebrate their return home. Instead, she tells her she’s had a change of plan. Audrey explains she never liked barbecues anyway, especially the smoke that clings to your hair. She would rather enjoy a more “civilised” evening with her neighbours from Grasmere Drive.
Later, we see a brand new door is seen in the Platt house hallway. It goes straight to the annexe, giving Audrey a private entrance and exit. David comments that it was her suggestion and states she referred to the door as a deal-breaker. Nick, always cheeky, proposes that Audrey may have simply desired a little bit of privacy.
And that’s it, it’s official, Audrey is bidding farewell to Grasmere Drive after spending 35 years there. That residence has been an integral part of Coronation Street history for decades. Whether she comes to love it or finds herself pining for the peace, only time will tell.
