No.8 Coronation Street might look brand new after the fire, but some old tensions are still very much alive, and ready to explode. As the Platts throw a party to show off their newly renovated home, things quickly take a dramatic turn when two familiar faces butt heads in front of the neighbours.
The Fire, the Fallout, and the Fresh Start
Earlier this year, Weatherfield was left reeling when No.8 caught fire in a surprise arson attack. What appeared initially to be a cryptic whodunnit was soon peeled away when the truth about Max Turner’s involvement in the fire was exposed. The struggling teenager had hoped the insurance claim would benefit his father David, but ended up with a big payout of a different kind: a six-and-a-half-year stint in prison.
Since then, the Platts have strived to get the home and themselves back together. The legendary house has seen a complete transformation. The kitchen/lounge dividing wall is gone, making for a more open layout, and the new dark colour tones seem like the perfect match. With everything now looking picture perfect, the family decide to host a good old-fashioned Corrie-style BBQ.
Frenemies At It Again in Coronation Street
Maria Connor and Lou Michaelis are both invited to this. We know they have baggage, and not the pleasant kind. Once Lou was kicked out of the salon, things got even chilly when she began hanging out with Maria’s husband, Gary. Tension was so thick, you could cut it with a knife. At the big bash, Lou slips in and begins rummaging through someone’s belongings.
For an instant, she appears to be tempted to steal a bundle of money, but she refrains. As luck would have it, Maria enters at precisely the wrong moment and leaps to all the wrong conclusions. In no time, Maria calls her out for being a “thieving cow” and orders her to empty her pockets. Lou doesn’t appreciate being shouted at and attempts to leave, but Maria has more to say.
Soon, the pair come to blows, literally. The accusations fly, voices rise, and soon the guests are witnessing a full-on soap showdown. Lou denies she took anything, but Maria’s not so sure.
