As we already know things have been quite tense between Brody and his mum Lou lately in Coronation Street. And now Bernie’s found herself right in the middle of it all. She’s trying to help, but it’s one of those situations where every move just seems to make things even more complicated. And next week, she tries her best to bring Brody and Lou back together. But whether it actually helps or makes things worse is still up for a debate.
It All Started with a DNA Test in Coronation Street
If we go back a bit, this all began when Kit started wondering if he might be Brody’s biological dad. He didn’t talk to Lou about it. Instead, he quietly arranged a DNA test with Bernie’s help. She was just trying to support Kit, but doing it behind Lou’s back was always going to cause trouble.
When the test results came in, things escalated quickly. The result confirmed what Kit had suspected, he is Brody’s father. Naturally, Brody didn’t react well. He got into a row with Kit, things turned ugly, and that’s when Bernie stepped in. But instead of calming things down, she dropped the truth right then and there, telling Brody that Kit really was his dad. After that, Brody went straight to Lou.
Bernie Wants to Mend the Rift
Now, in the episodes airing next week, Bernie’s not giving up. She encourages Brody to reach out to Lou and try to sort things out. But he shuts her down straight away. He tells her his mum is “dead” to him, and he clearly means it.
Still, Bernie isn’t one to walk away that easily. She manages to get Lou to come round, hoping she can at least get the two of them in the same room. She wants Brody to hear his mum out, just once, before things get beyond fixing.
According to someone from the show, Bernie’s motivation is deeply personal. She’s grown quite close to Brody since finding out Kit’s his dad, and she says she sees a lot of Paul in him. That connection is why she’s trying so hard to help, she genuinely cares.
So far, Bernie’s already done a lot for Brody. She’s given him a place to stay, and now she’s trying to bring him and Lou back together. Meanwhile, there’s something else happening in Weatherfield that could bring more drama. Recent filming pictures show a speeding car on the loose with Brody and Dylan, and Fiz Dobbs could be in danger. There’s speculation that Brody might somehow be involved, but that’s all still under wraps for now.
Looks like there’s a lot to look out for this week. Bernie’s stepping in with the best of intentions. But as always in Coronation Street, even the kindest plans can lead to more chaos. Let’s see how this plays out. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily and we will keep you posted!
