Next week in Coronation Street, Bernie Winter-Alahan struggles when Mal Roper decides to stay in Weatherfield instead of moving on. Bernie hoped their wild night would stay in the past, but Mal’s new job brings him right back into her daily life.
Mal turns up to do electrical work at Roy Cropper’s flat, and Bernie instantly feels nervous. She can’t relax knowing he is so close by. Every time she sees him, she remembers the secret she is hiding.
The stress grows when Bernie and Dev Alahan spot Mal at The Rovers Return Inn. Dev has no idea what happened between Bernie and Mal, and Bernie fears he might start to notice her strange behavior.
Bernie finally gathers courage and speaks to Mal privately at the pub. She asks him to keep their night a secret. Mal tells her he will keep quiet and says he plans to leave town after finishing Roy’s job. But Bernie doesn’t fully trust that promise.

The trouble started during Bernie’s wild night, shown in a special episode about her. She met Mal at the bar of Chariot Square Hotel and went up to his room. She turned down his romantic advances, but she still made a bad choice later. Bernie went out to buy pills for them to share.
The scenes showed how much she is still hurting after Billy Mayhew died in the Corriedale crash. Her grief pushed her into a night she now regrets. Now that Mal refuses to leave, Bernie’s mistake keeps following her.
