A rushed and half though life-changing decision is about to horribly backfire at Bethany Platt in the upcoming episodes on Coronation Street. Actress Lucy Fallon teases that her character is about to walk down a long and terrifying road after her decision to get a cosmetic procedure goes off the rails.
In the upcoming episodes, Bethany faces a harrowing complication after her cosmetic surgery in Turkey goes wrong. Her insecurities pushed her to make a decision that was perhaps not even needed, and now she will have to face the dire consequences from it for a long time to come.
Bethany Platt decides to get a liposuction in Turkey, but the procedure goes horribly wrong. It all started when she accepted a job to write an advertorial for a cosmetic surgery company’s new facility in Turkey. There, she makes the decision to get a liposuction at the clinic. However, when she regains consciousness, she is informed that she contracted sepsis as a result of a botched procedure.
As a result of that, she will now have to live with a permanent stoma. Her boyfriend, Daniel Osborne, receives a call from the clinic informing him of the complication and he rushes over to see her. Another round of complications soon string out when it is discovered that Bethany never disclosed her surgery to her insurance company, reveal Coronation Street spoilers.
This leaves the Platts scrambling to come up with tens of thousands for the medical bill. The clinic refuses to discharge her without payment. “This is really hard-hitting, and the storyline is also incredibly important as there are countless horror stories out there of people talking about their experiences of cosmetic surgery abroad,” Lucy explains.
Bethany will of course be devastated when she learns that she will have a stoma bag forever. Moreover, her insurance now stands void, so her family will have to come up with the funds to pay her medical bills. “Now that the pressure is on the Platts to raise the funds to pay for her medical bills and get her home, she’s just going to feel like it’s the end of the world,” Lucy pointed.
