It’s been several months since Gail Platt set off into the sun with Jesse in tow, leaving Weatherfield behind for a fresh start in France. Since leaving in her tearful Christmas Day departure, fans have wondered – how’s she doing really over there? Well, tonight, Coronation Street finally gives us a few crumbs. But let’s just say that it’s not all croissants and relaxed afternoons for poor David!
David and Shona Dish the Dirt on Gail’s French Escapade
The latest episode sees David and Shona returning from their trip to visit Gail, and David hardly rushes to sing her praises. In classic David fashion, he wastes no time moaning that, believe it or not, he’s actually glad to be back in Weatherfield. He jokes that by the end of their stay, Gail was “doing his head in.”
Of course, Shona leaps to Gail’s defense. She assures David — and the viewer — that Gail looks happy in her new life with Jesse. But David isn’t so sure about this idyllic scene. He asks if Gail’s so happy, why does she keep firing questions at them all the time?
As it happens, Gail’s curiosity got the better of her. She wanted all the juicy details about the family scandals she’d missed — from the heart-wrenching house fire to Max Turner’s latest jail time.
David complains that they’d already kept Gail up to speed through their text messages. Nevertheless, fans can rest a little easier knowing that the Platts ultimately decided to bring Gail in properly. Their previous plan was to leave her in the dark back in February.
There’s Trouble Brewing in Coronation Street!
But before we can get too relaxed with the Gail catch-up, there’s new drama on the horizon. David and Shona, who are still hiding out at Sarah’s flat following the blaze, come across none other than Kit Green — and he’s half-dressed, no less!
On comes David’s horror when he realizes that Sarah is officially seeing the man he despises.
Sarah and Kit adamantly state they won’t apologize despite David’s rage. And with the new lovebirds in no mood to back off, David may be forced to get used to it, whether he approves or not!
