Billy Mayhew has started noticing things that just don’t sit right in Coronation Street, especially when it comes to Todd and his boyfriend Theo. What looks like harmless jealousy at first slowly turns into something much more worrying, and without realising it, Billy finds himself getting far too close to a situation that’s about to explode.
Billy’s Exit Has Been Looming For A While
Back earlier this year, Coronation Street confirmed that Daniel Brocklebank would be leaving the show, and fans instantly started asking the same question, how on earth would Billy be written out? Those fears only grew when photos from filming showed cast members gathered for what looked very much like a funeral. Producer Kate Brooks later teased that Billy’s final storyline would be a big one.

She shared that Billy would be pulled into a major plot that would test him in ways he never expected, pushing his friendships and his faith right to the edge. For many viewers, the answer seemed obvious. Billy’s past with Todd and Theo’s clear dislike of him felt like a ticking time bomb. Theo has never accepted Billy because of his history with Todd and has always seen him as a threat to his relationship.
Theo’s Behaviour Starts Ringing Alarm Bells
So far, Theo has managed to keep his toxic side hidden from everyone around him, including Billy. But things start to slip at George and Glenda’s joint party at the Bistro. When Nick invites Todd out for a run, Sarah jokingly mentions that Nick was Todd’s very first crush and Theo’s glare says it all. The mood gets even more uncomfortable when Christina realises Glenda forgot to order a cake. Theo jumps in, offers to fetch one, and pretty much drags Todd out of the Bistro while Billy watches on.

That moment sticks with Billy. Worried, he later asks Alya about the abuse Yasmeen went through with Geoff and how you can tell when something isn’t right. He then pops round to see Todd with Summer in tow. When Billy mentions a parishioner dealing with domestic abuse, Theo immediately starts questioning him. He forces Billy to dodge the subject and wonder if Theo has clocked his concern. The truth finally comes out during Debbie and Ronnie’s wedding reception. As everyone sits down to eat, Todd accidentally spills orange juice down his shirt.
Sensing something’s wrong, Billy follows Todd into the gents and that’s when everything clicks. He sees Todd washing his shirt in the sink, and the bruises on his body say everything Billy needs to know. Trying to step in and protect Todd ends up costing Billy his life. Theo is confirmed as Billy’s killer, bringing the vicar’s story to a heartbreaking end. Stay tuned to Soap Opera Daily for all the latest Coronation Street spoilers and updates.
