Todd heads into the festive season in Coronation Street hoping for a bit of peace, but things at home with Theo keep getting more tense by the day. Even though it starts as small, uncomfortable moments, it slowly builds into something much harder to ignore, and by the time New Year approaches, Todd finds himself right at the edge of a decision that could change everything. The only question is, what finally pushes him to make that move?
The Festive Tension That Sets Everything Off
The trouble begins when Theo casually asks Todd if he’s excited for Christmas. Todd dodges the question and starts talking about how good it feels to be back at work. Theo doesn’t hide how annoyed he is, and the mood between them shifts instantly. A little later, Theo returns with piles of Christmas shopping and announces he’s invited all their friends for dinner, and he’ll be doing all the cooking.
He watches Todd closely, almost waiting for a particular answer. When George, Christina, Summer and Glenda come over for Christmas lunch, things grow even more uncomfortable. Summer mentions she got Todd tickets to an Andrew Scott retrospective because she knows Todd always fancied him. Theo bristles again, and the room instantly feels awkward.
Then, when everyone starts playing charades, Theo suddenly loses his temper and smashes a wine glass on the floor. Later on, Theo surprises Todd by saying he’s booked a mini break for them. Todd is thrilled until he realises the dates clash with the event Summer gifted him. Theo gives him a cold stare, and Todd feels the weight of the choice hanging over him.
At George and Glenda’s joint party in the Bistro, Nick suggests going for a run with Todd. Sarah then accidentally reveals that Todd once had a crush on Nick, and Theo shoots Todd another sharp glare. When Christina complains about the missing cake, Theo steps in and insists he and Todd will fetch one. Billy watches them leave with a growing sense of concern. After picking up the cake, Theo rounds on Todd and accuses him of flirting with Nick.
The Moment Todd Finally Reaches His Limit in Coronation Street
By New Year’s Eve, Todd’s nerves are obvious. He waits at the Rovers with George, Christina, Billy and Summer, hoping Theo will arrive, but he’s clearly unsettled. He won’t explain what he’s planning, which only raises more concern from his friends. When Billy and Summer stop by later, Todd suddenly asks Billy about a “parishioner” who is experiencing domestic abuse. Billy immediately realises Todd is actually talking about himself, even if Todd won’t admit it directly.
As soon as the pair leave, Theo shows up in another rage. He then tells Todd that he only lost his temper because Todd pushed him too far, trying to turn the blame back on him. But when Theo’s phone rings, Todd spots his chance and bolts, finally running from the situation. Later, when he listens to a voicemail from Theo saying he can’t live without him, Todd feels torn all over again.
Everything comes to a head at Debbie and Ronnie’s wedding. During dinner, Todd spills orange juice on his shirt, and Theo orders him to go rinse it off. Billy quietly follows, sensing that something isn’t right. When Billy walks into the gents, he sees Todd rinsing out the shirt, bruises clearly visible across his body. Todd insists he’s partly at fault too and tries to downplay what’s happening. But Billy knows exactly what he’s looking at and he finally sees the truth Todd has been trying so hard to hide.
