Carl Webster is about to cross another unforgivable line on Coronation Street, and this time, his target is the one person who’s always had his back; his sister, Debbie. But as Carl’s web of deceit tightens, it’s Debbie’s fragile state that makes her most vulnerable to his cruel scheme.
Carl’s Past Schemes Come Back To Haunt Him
Carl Webster has already proven he’ll stop at nothing to protect himself. Viewers recently watched him manipulate Debbie Webster when she started to suspect his affair with Abi. After Debbie spotted Abi with a hotel key, Carl quickly turned the tables, claiming her dementia was making her confused and forgetful about Abi’s past visits. Debbie, who genuinely struggles with memory lapses, had no choice but to accept her brother’s explanation.
The emotional toll of being made to question her own mind has left her shaken, especially since she relies on Carl for support. His cold willingness to use her illness against her only deepens his descent into deceit. Now, with both Carl and Abi sacked from the garage by Kevin, things are spiraling. Carl’s frustrations mount as he’s forced to share his hotel room with Abi and her young son, a situation that’s testing his patience more than his loyalty.
Carl Plots A Heartless Move
Carl’s irritation with Abi becomes clear when he jumps at the chance to send her and Alfie off to stay with Roy Cropper, eager to reclaim his personal space. But his loneliness doesn’t last long; James Bailey steps back into the picture, telling Carl he still cares for him despite everything. It’s not long before their intimacy reignites. However, when Carl suspects that Debbie might have overheard his private chat with James, panic sets in.
To deflect suspicion, he spins yet another lie, telling Kevin he only wants to make amends for Debbie’s sake, claiming her dementia is worsening. Meanwhile, Debbie continues to trust Carl with hotel matters, unaware that he’s using her condition to edge closer to her finances. When she mentions that she’ll personally handle the hotel’s money side, Carl’s hopes of control take a hit. But the opportunist in him soon finds another way.
Debbie Falls Victim To Carl’s in Coronation Street
Carl suggests that Debbie take a well-deserved holiday to relax, subtly planting the idea while plotting his next move. Though she’s hesitant to commit, fate, and Carl’s manipulation, steps in when she’s called away mid-decision, leaving her phone unattended. Seeing his chance, Carl completes the booking himself, pretending she made the choice. Later, when Debbie receives an email confirming her holiday, she’s bewildered.
She insists she doesn’t remember making the booking but Carl cruelly blames it on her dementia. He even tells her the trip is non-refundable, making her feel trapped and ashamed of her supposed mistake. Shaken and devastated, Debbie begins to doubt her own memory again. But Ronnie, ever the kind-hearted presence, comforts her, saying that perhaps a holiday is exactly what she needs. His encouragement restores her confidence, unaware that Carl is already planning his next betrayal.
While Debbie starts preparing for her trip, Carl quietly sets his true plan in motion. He requests access to the hotel’s bank account under the guise of managing bills during her absence. It’s the perfect setup for another act of betrayal. So, will anyone catch on before he robs his own sister blind?
